Grasshopper or ant?

As I was researching the talk and three lessons I'm giving this weekend (like Brian asked, why can't I just say no? ...because there's no one else to do it, my conscience replies) I came across this old Ensign article that I immediately identified with. (Click here to read it.)

The funny thing is, I can't decide whether I'm an ant or a grasshopper. I think probably my nature is ant-ish but I admire the grasshoppers and wish I could be more spontaneous like them. Hmm. Or maybe my true nature is the scatterbrained day-dreamer and I just put in a lot of effort to get some kind of actual work done (for example, it takes me hours to do dishes because I go wandering off to pursue some tangent idea or get sidetracked by less-productive things--like blogging when I should be preparing talks).

Everybody vote! Are you an ant or grasshopper?

I think everyone has a little grasshopper in them, well, I would almost hope they would! I am afraid I may lean more to the ant side of things, but every now and then my inner grasshopper definitely peeps out. But I think you need that to survive. P.S. Speaking of nature - a bird just built a nest in our flower pot on our doorstep.

Your talk at church was just what I needed. I needed a good cry. We are going to miss you so much!

I loved that article! What a great find. Have you sent your blog address to Aunt Shawn? She would really relate to that article. Thanks for sharing! Mom

Ok, ok, so everyone sees me as the ultimate Grasshopper, but seriously, I have a bit of OCD in me and I have admitted to a very few people that I HAVE to have certain things organized just so or I go bonkers!

But, yes, I enjoyed the article and found it refreshing to realize that there are more Mormons out there like me... I was always told that I was naughty and a day-dreamer when I was young, but I came to realize (finally at the age of about 40)that I was just DIFFERENT!

...And there is NOTHING wrong with that!
