The Caterpillar

I found caterpillar in the kitchen sink yesterday, one of those nasty brown creepy ones. I nearly put it down the garbage disposal but decided to give it to Maggie instead. Death by three-year-old may not exactly be more humane, but at least I felt better about it.

She put the thing in a bug house, hung it around her neck and ran off to her friends' house to show off the new pet. Eventually, after Maggie and Matthew started fighting over who WASN'T going to hold the caterpillar because it was so gross, I took it outside and dumped it in a bush. Considering the snow, that probably wasn't the most humane thing to do, either, but once again, I felt better about it. Plus, that way I didn't have to touch it anymore than Maggie or Matthew.

Thanks for responding, my dear. Sorry you have had such a rough month---and I feel for your friend---how tough for her---you are amazing to hang by her...

Keep the faith...and hopefully you will start to see butterflies soon!

What?!? You're supposed to keep it until it emerges from it's cocoon into a beautiful moth!
