And this is where I am:
I was supposed to tag along on Brian's all-expenses paid trip (he ended up numero quatro in sales in the nation for his company last year--woot woot for hubby!) but we decided tooling around Mexico is not the best place for a six-week old baby. And there's no way I'm going to leave a breastfeeding infant for a week (pump for six days? No way, Jose!) So Brian had to drag a friend along instead--and I'm sure it was really difficult to talk him into it.
Brian keeps reassuring me that the sand is not white, the water is not blue, and he did not get seasick on his deep-sea fishing adventure (10 foot waves in a 31 foot boat--but he caught a mahi-mahi about the size of Maggie). Somehow, I just don't believe him.
And my project helpers are flagging in their enthusiasm. The boys would rather spend their school vacation doing just about anything rather than cleaning out their bedroom. Tough luck, I tell them. Life isn't fair...just ask me.

Poor Brian. He better bring you back something really, REALLY, good!
I agree. You better receive a really good gift for all your sacrifice and then redoing the boys room with a newborn! Are you crazy? Where do you get your energy with no sleep?
don't you think Dad would love to paint the boys' bedroom when he gets back?
its hard enough painting, cleaning, being a single mom, or having a newborn - you are doing it all at once! take it easy for now!
Hey, guys, I'm just painting three little stripes around the room. It's not that big of a deal. And I'm doing it while Brian is away so I can totally let the housework go while I focus on getting the project done. Plus, the boys are out of school so we don't have to wake up to catch a bus in the morning. And this room really needed a thorough cleaning out--we haven't been able to see the floor for months--so it's a good time to rearrange furniture and do a LITTLE decorative painting, too.
What we mothers do for our children. I bet the friend that Brian invited on the all-expenses-paid vacation is thanking his lucky stars though.
