I avoided a car accident today by a miracle, nothing more.
We were headed to Matthew's basketball game this morning, and running late like always, I was admittedly going a little faster than I should have been on snowy, slushy roads. As I changed lanes and started to slow down to turn right at the stop light, my brakes locked as my tires hit a sheet of ice and my car started to slide...fast. I veered onto the shoulder and, taking out the "singles!" signs posted along the side of the road, passed a line of cars parked on my left waiting to turn at the light and somehow managed to avoid sliding into the steep ditch on my right. As I was shooting forward, I realized that ahead of me there was a light pole and a large utility box slightly to the right, a car waiting to turn directly in front of me, but just to the left there was a gap in the cars. I headed for that.
As someone later told me who watched the whole thing, that car moved forward a just little, and my car shot through the gap into the middle of the intersection...completely unharmed. The light turned green, the traffic started to move, and after sitting for a minute to stop yelling and start breathing, I merged with the oncoming cars and drove off down the road, shaken but whole.
I drove down to the next stoplight, made a U-turn, and came back to the intersection to turn up the street I needed to take to Matthew's game. There at the same patch of ice was a car down in the ditch. That could have been me. That should have been me, if it weren't for the miracle that pushed my car in the only path it could have taken freely.
I thought of my car full of children strapped in their car seats and thanked God for our safety. And I'm so glad we avoided all those insurance and car repair bills, too.

That sure sounds like a miracle! I'm glad that you were all safe and remained unharmed! That's crazy! Thanks for the cute card. I loved Matthews the best about the ketchup! LOL
so glad you're safe! merry christmas :)
Another blessing! I'm so grateful for each and every one. I'm very glad you are all okay.
I DO believe in Miracles too! I'm thankful you're all safe and posted this story. Merry Christmas indeed!
You know, I have been the recipient of similar blessings as well. Sometimes you're grateful to be ALIVE, but most of the time you are grateful for the "tender mercy" you received. It's great to know Heavenly Father loves the mothers of his children so much that He blesses them to avoid the major headaches that could occur.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I hate that feeling after you have almost been in an accident--you are shaking and your heart is pounding a hundred miles an hour!
I have managed to get by several times---being a defensive driver--and I ALWAYS am quick to give a thank you prayer to Heavenly Father for watching over me...
So glad you are all safe!
Have a great Christmas!
Elly- I'm glad after all this time to know that you are safe because I would have just missed you. I got your christmas card last night and was hoping for some form of electronic communication possibility. I am finally computer savvy enough to keep in touch with you. My blot is private so I need you to send me an email to my email and I will invite you in. I am adding you to my list and plan on staying in touch. We still drive by your house every day and frequently talk about nathan and matthew your family looks beautiful and you look happy. Of course that is the beauty of blogs. We hope you have a merry christmas and we thank you for including us on your mailing list. I look forward to talking more. Take care, Ronda Loveridge rloveridge@tconl.com
I can't believe this! So scary! Someone definitely must have said their prayers that morning. :)
I am thankful for your safety and well being. I am so thankful for the many blessings our little family has received this year.
