While I was trying to get Nathan ready for school this morning...
Matthew: Is Adam still around?
Me: Who?
Matthew: You know, Adam the prophet.
Me: No, he's dead.
Matthew: So, who's the prophet?
Me: Well, you know President Hinckley is dead, right? So our prophet now is Thomas S. Monson.
Matthew: So, is everyone in the state a prophet?
Me: No, there's only one prophet.
Matthew: Well, what about all those prophets in the song?
Me: There's only one prophet at a time, all the others used to be prophets but they're dead now.
Matthew: So, is President Hinckley still around?
Me: No, he's dead.
Matthew: But I heard at church that after you die your body is still around for awhile.
Me: When you die, your spirit separates from your body and goes to the spirit world and your body is buried in the ground and eventually it turns into bones.
Matthew: I bet President Hinckley is really hot because the farther you go underground, the hotter it gets. [I just realized this rationale comes from Nathan's lessons in volcanoes. !!!]
Me: No, President Hinckley is dead. His body doesn't feel anything.
Matthew: Is your spirit the part that sparkles?
Eventually, we got things sorted out...I think.

I think Matthew's spirit sparkles. :) This is awesome.
it is so funny to see how kids think, especially as you eventually trace back their logic (i.e. how hot it is under ground)...
and i love that, the spirit is the part that sparkles :)
So does it make any more sense to him today after seeing the first session? The grown up world can be soo confusing.
